Fear vs Freedom

Beloved–

The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid?  The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?  (from Psalms)

Fear shrouds my heart from the joy the Lord has provided for me.  Fear causes me to want to solve problems for my own glory rather than watching God’s solutions.  The sooner I confess my sin the sooner I can stop trembling.  Confession is quite refreshing.

I pray for you everyday to depend on the Lord for a solution; praising our triune God for his mercy and grace.

Stop digging!

Beloved–

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.  And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.  (from Romans)

I dug myself into such a deep hole I couldn’t see backward or forward.  And all because I was trying to solve all my problems alone.  How easily I “step out of the boat” when I should be sitting quietly, glorifying my Lord and savior.

I pray for you everyday to know that the Lord loves you dearly; so praise the God who is… Father, Son and Spirit.

OMG, not again

Beloved–

Praise the Lord, I tell myself; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.  Praise the Lord, I tell myself, and never forget the good things he does for me… Praise the Lord, I tell myself; O Lord my God, how great you are!    (from Psalms)

Every morning I tell myself, I won’t make a decision without praying for God’s wisdom; then I turn right around and paint myself into a corner.  I praise God for his forgiveness and his patience with me.

I pray for you daily to recognize temptation before you step in it; and trust the God who is… Father, Son and Spirit.

Luv Ya!

Practice, practice, practice

Beloved–

Trust in the Lord and do good… Take delight in the Lord… Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. (from Psalms)

I trust in the Lord and I try to do good.  Taking delight in the Lord means doing things his way.  I’m not very good at doing things his way; usually, I do things my way and then I learn that his way is best.

I pray for you everyday to take delight in the Lord first instead of a last resort. Trust the God who is… Father, Son and Spirit.

It’s Wednesday on Thursday!

Beloved–

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.  Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.  (from Proverbs)

“Leaning on my own understanding” had been/is always my thing.  Daily, I acknowledge the Lord as the master of my day; then turn around and do just as I think is best.  Praise God, he is always ready to receive a repentant sinner over and over again; even me.

I pray for you daily to acknowledge the God who is… father, Son and Spirit!

Safe

Beloved–

The Lord is my shepherd;  I have all that I need.  He lets me rest in green meadows;  he leads me beside peaceful streams.  He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.  Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.  Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.  You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies.  You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me  all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.    (from Psalms)

I pray for you daily to recognize and worship the God who is… Father, Son and Spirit.

Solution

Beloved–

I will praise God no matter what happens; I will constantly speak of his glories and grace. I will boast of all his kindness to me; let all who are discouraged take heart… For I cried to him and he answered me; he freed me from all my fears.  (from Psalms)

I’ll never know how much it cost to have my sin nailed to the cross nor can I understand how much love it takes to keep me safe each and every moment.

I pray for you everyday to know that just because you can’t see your way out of the chaos, God can and he has your back.

Avoid it!

Beloved–

Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.  Mockers can get a whole town agitated, but the wise will calm anger.  Don’t befriend angry people or associate with hot-tempered people.  Every word of God proves true.  He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.  (from Proverbs)

I knew the solution to the problem but nobody would listen to me!  How can I calm myself or hold it back when I’m so full of fear and anger?  How do I access that protection? What does my life look like in a practical everyday way?  As soon as I remember, I focus all my thoughts on my savior; if I trusted him for my salvation, why be tempted to think he doesn’t have a solution to my current problem.

I pray for you everyday that you be aware of the temptation to solve the problem on your own, so that you can avoid it.

Prudent

Beloved–

A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions.  The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.  (from Proverbs)

Anger (aka fear) destroys my testimony that Christ is holding me in his arms.  Yet, time and time again, I succumb to fear/anger causing my disconnect and my need for repentance.  Praise God for his bountiful grace.

I pray for you daily to recognize the temptation of anger before it takes hold of you.

How to satisfy cravings

Beloved–

Their purpose [of God’s word] is to teach people wisdom and discipline, to help them understand the insights of the wise… Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed… We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps… Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful.  (from Proverbs)

I know I want God’s will for my life but I can’t achieve it in my own strength.  Fortunately, the God who is, has provided a “How to” book of instructions.

I pray for you everyday to crave the joy that “the Word” provides.

Luv Ya!
