Front and Back

Beloved–

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.  (from 2 Timothy)

As I see it scripture is God talking to me.  Scripture tells me that I’m always going to fall short; but it tells me “he’s got my back.”  Scripture also, tells me “he’s got my front” because he looks at me through the covering of Christ.  And the best scripture of all is that it tells me its all free because of his beloved son’s work on the cross.

I pray for you to experience God’s protection in front of you and at your back as well.  I’m praying for you morning, noon and night for the next 25 days.

Luv Ya!

Really?

Beloved–

Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding.  Search for them as you would for silver;    seek them like hidden treasures.  Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God. (from Proverbs)

Falling in love with Jesus made me want to know all about him.  The more I learned from his Word about his finished work on the cross the more astonished I became; the more I needed to know.  Now, forty plus years later I’m still learning new things; and there is so much more to learn.

If you only know one thing about Jesus, its that he knew your heart and loved you before the foundation of the world.  I’m praying for you morning, noon and night for the next 32 days.

Luv Ya!

Hang in there

Beloved–

Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.  (from 1 Timothy)

The only way I can be faithful, loving and persevere to manifest gentleness is to stay at the foot of the cross, holding on tight.  Joyfully knowing that I’m welcome warts and all.

I pray that you know the comfort that comes at the foot of the cross.  I will continue to pray for you morning, noon and night for the next 39 days.

Luv Ya!

Why Ash Wednesday

Beloved–

Today is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent and occurs 46 days (40 days not counting Sundays) before Easter.  It falls on a different date each year because it is dependent on the date of Easter.  It can occur as early as February 4 or as late as March 10.

The purpose of Lent (recalling Jesus’ 40-day fast in the wilderness) is to be a season of fasting, self-denial, prayer, scripture reading, penitence, conversion, and simplicity. Lent, which comes from the Teutonic (Germanic) word for springtime, can be viewed as a spiritual spring cleaning: a time for taking spiritual inventory and then cleaning out those things which hinder our corporate and personal relationships with Jesus Christ and our service to him.

Prayer: Lent is a good time to develop or strengthen a discipline of daily prayer.  A good goal for Lent would be to praise God in prayer morning and evening daily.  Praise and thanksgiving first and requests second.  Scripture Reading:  When facing temptation in the desert, Jesus relied on Scripture to counter the wiles of the devil. It is a formidable weapon for us as well.

Pray that we can be diligent in our “spring cleaning process.”  I’m praying for you morning, noon and night for the next 46 days.

Luv Ya!

It’s Wednesday on Thursday

Beloved–

God will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in him whose thoughts are fixed on him.  (from Isaiah)

Yesterday, I learned that fixing my thoughts on the world’s problems even for just a minute gives the enemy a foothold.  Pride and anger quickly followed dragging me down a wormhole before I knew it.  Only the prior practice of memorizing God’s word saved me from drowning in my own sin.

I pray everyday for you to have wisdom and discernment to read and study God’s word.

Luv Ya!

You can see clearly.

Beloved–

…God chose you…to experience salvation—a salvation that came through the Spirit who makes you holy and through your belief in the truth. (from Thessalonians)

The Word taught me what truth is–real truth!  I’m a sinner; despite that God chose to love me before I loved him.  The truth is I needed to learn to be brutally honest with myself so that I could see the difference between an attack of the enemy and a problem of my own making.

I pray for you daily to know the truth that, God chose to love your heart before the foundation of the world.

Luv Ya!

I want you to know for sure.

Beloved–

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus…asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things [he] your faith prompts you to do. (from Thessalonians)

As an adolescent Christian I desperately wanted to know God’s will for my life; but I was Biblically illiterate.  The chaos of life drove me to his Word where I found peace of mind and heart.

I pray everyday for you to KNOW his presence and to be joyful no matter what!

Luv Ya!

Listen carefully–

Beloved–

…anyone who refuses to live by these rules is not disobeying human teaching but is rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you. (from Thessalonians)

As an adolescent Christian I knew that I had been given the Holy Spirit.  My problem was, I lacked the spiritual wisdom to be able to recognize the difference between being responsible for painting myself into a corner or was I being attacked by the enemy.

I pray for you daily to know the constant presence of the Holy Spirit so that you will recognize the enemy.

Luv Ya!

More workers

Beloved–

Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity.  (from Colossians)

As a baby Christian I quickly learned the comfort of prayer for ME; I knew I wasn’t alone, all I needed to do was give thanks and pay attention.

As I learned and saw the power of praise and prayer overcome my fears because my Lord had chosen my heart before he made the “first handfuls of soil” my heart became burdened for those other hearts he has chosen.

I pray everyday for you to stay alert and see the Lord working in your life.

Luv Ya!

How it all started…

The History of “It’s Wednesday”

The power of praise and prayer has been a passion of mine since I was a very young Christian.  As a church secretary, I took on the prayer ministry, especially for students and teachers at the preschool located on the church campus.

The prayer ministry came to include actual hands-on prayer, Wednesday was the designated day.  One particular teacher would often say to me “It’s Wednesday isn’t it?”  When she resigned to return to school she said she would miss our weekly prayer time.  I told her, “don’t worry I’ll email you your prayer.”

In her first emailed prayer I wrote on the subject line “It’s Wednesday” and the title just stuck.  I would like to introduce you to that weekly email known as It’s Wednesday, that began in 2003.

I’m praying daily for YOU and that you will fall in love with Jesus more and more everyday; He has taken out your heart of stone and given you a heart of flesh and blood…His blood!

Luv Ya!
