WHO ME???

Beloved–

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.  (from Ephesians)

Scripture says God the Father chose to bestow his grace on my heart (before he made the first handfuls of soil) so that I would believe in him and reflect his glory.  Me–whose pride, anger, and poor me attitude–would constantly be distorting his image.

I pray for me and you daily to remember how we got here and where we are going.  How many hearts did God choose to see him through you?

Luv Ya!

It’s Wednesday on Thursday

Beloved–

Anyone with ears to hear–listen… to everyone who is victorious I will give fruit from the tree of life in the paradise of God.    (from Revelation)

This promise of God reminds me where to find my joy.  The  trick is not to be distracted by the everyday life of chaos, outside the gates of paradise.   I pray for you daily to keep your eyes up to avoid distraction.

Planning Works!

Beloved–

Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver;  seek them like hidden treasures.  Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God. For the Lord grants wisdom!  From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. (from Proverbs)

I instinctively seek structure all the while complaining I don’t have time to plan.  Daily scripture reading is the way my heavenly father changes my heart to reflect his image to the world and keeps me on mission.

I pray for you daily, that you will fight to find time to read scripture even if only for five minutes.

NOT ME!

Beloved–

Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge… Proverbs purpose is to teach people wisdom and discipline… Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment. (from proverbs)

Everyone wants to have good judgement but who wants to be disciplined; not me.  Yet, God’s discipline is the best thing that ever happened to me!  I pray you can say the same.  Scripture is such a blessing. God is so good!

Listen to Hear

Beloved–

Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.  (from 1 John)

Recently, I learned that I can read the Bible and not hear what it is saying–to me.  I pray for you daily that your heart’s desire is to read and understand scripture, so that you can hear it speaking to you.

Sweet Sound

Beloved–

I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.  And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him…Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.  (from 1 John)

The sound of scripture continues to block out the chaos in my life; I pray everyday that it does in yours as well.

It’s Wednesday on Thursday!

Beloved–

The Lord is my shepherd;  I have all that I need…I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises.  I will boast only in the Lord; let all who are helpless take heart…Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!  His faithful love endures forever.

The sound of scripture drowns out the chaos of life!

I am praying for you everyday.

Still faithful!

Beloved–

…and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.  If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. (from 1 John)

I confess I have let my culture influence my basic thinking pattern.  Some how, some way if I just try hard enough “I can fix” any problem—that makes me in control!  Even when I sin, Jesus is always faithful!

I pray for you daily that you too, to know the love and faithfulness of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Pay Attention!

Beloved–

Therefore, I will always remind you about these things [paying attention to scripture]—even though you already know them and are standing firm in the truth you have been taught.  (from 2 Peter)

As a young Christian I suffered with pain, frustration and life’s chaos alone for many days before remembering that I had a problem solver and life manager.  Now, fifty years later of reading and rereading scripture I can focus on God’s words to me instead of the chaos.  Aha, peace of mind and heart.

I pray for you everyday to learn and know the truth and safety in God’s word to you.

What a relief!

Beloved–

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding…Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom…Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. (from Proverbs)

As a young Christian, I was only sure of one thing, I had a savior!  Now I know that, no matter how confused I feel in any situation I can stop worrying.  I don’t have to come up with the solution, he has it handled.  It’s a relief to know that I’m not in charge.

I pray for you to know that if you don’t trust yourself and truly seek his will, you will recognize it.

Luv Ya!
