Listen

Beloved–

Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house … then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit … (from Acts)

Upon reflection of my life I can see where the Holy Spirit was speaking to me.  There were two times of major crisis in my life when I heard “turn around and go the other way.” No, instead I continued to stumble down my own path to disaster.  I pray for you to listen carefully for the voice of the God who is … Father, Son, Holy Spirit!

Safe Place

Beloved–

So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. (from Hebrews)

With a trustworthy anchor such as this, knowing that God can not lie, that I can enter the holy of hollies because of what my savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, has done for me. What a blessed assurance from the God who is …. Father, Son and Holy Spirit!

Growing in Him

Beloved–

Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true.  Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.  (from Hebrews)

I pray oh Father, God don’t let me become indifferent to the Spirit’s leading or fill my mind with worldly concerns that I fall short of the finish line.  I pray for you to trust the God who is … Father, Son and Holy Spirit, so that you will mature in your salvation.

Beloved–

“I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters. I will praise you among your assembled people.  (from Hebrews)

I praise and thank you in Jesus’ name, Father God, because you are almighty, master of the universe and maker of heaven and earth.  I praise and thank you because you willingly sacrificed your only beloved son, you shed his blood on Calvary’s tree to wash away my sins, to pay the debt I couldn’t pay. Now, I can come boldly to your throne to worship you shoulder-to-shoulder with my Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen.

I am praying for you to praise the God who is … Father, Son and Holy Spirit!

Beloved–

Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God. You must warn each other every day, while it is still “today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God.  For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.  (from Hebrews)

I can remember, as a new believer, rearranging my schedule so I could make time to read my Bible.  Am I turning away from God when I take my first few minutes to check the weather, my emails and facebook on my handy tablet, instead of choosing those first few minutes to read his word on that same handy tablet?  Pray for me to ALWAYS put thee Almighty first. I pray for you to trust and obey the God who is … Father, Son and Holy Spirit!

Beloved–

For the word of God is alive and powerful …. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes … Today when hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts ….  (from Hebrews)

When I hear his voice, I often miss the opportunity to follow through.  Usually, it is fear to say the right words and not to offend. I have learned to pray to hear and show me opportunities to speak about his love and mercy to me.  Praise the God who is … Father, Son and Holy Spirit!

Safe!

Beloved–

Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.  (from Psalms)

When I slammed the door in the face of calamity and disaster, the Holy Spirit wrapped my heart within a cloak of trust and praise.  When worry and doubt tried to enter my heart, the God who is … Father,Son and Holy Spirit just pulled the cloak of trust and praise around my heart, tighter.  There is no other way but to trust and obey.

It’s in the Word

Beloved–

Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested.  (from Hebrews)

As I hear neighbors and friends speak about calamity or concerns in their lives, I want them to know that the enemy has no power, when they “cast their cares,” on the Lord.

Sometimes I begin to think about my list of concerns, then I remember I have already put them in God’s hands, giving me the power to praise the God who is … Father, Son and Holy Spirit!

Life Choices

Beloved–

So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires …  (from 1 Peter)

As a young practicing believer I examine my previous life choices and decided what my future behavior and thought processes would/should be.   Many things were easily discarded; others had no apparent remedy. Then I learned that the Lord will either fix the mess I’m in or change the way I think about the mess.

It is possible

Beloved–

So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.  So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires …  (from 1 Peter)

If I am aware of who I am and I am abiding in my surroundings, then even in the difficulties of life, I have peace of mind and peace of heart.  I pray for you to have the same comfort as I have in the God who is … Father, Son and Holy Spirit!
