We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. I gained my salvation by believing that, God the Father took the death of his son, Jesus Christ, on the cross as payment for my debt of sin. When trouble and disaster overtake me like a storm, then I cling to the foot of the cross, thanking Jesus for peace of mind and heart and for his love and protection. But, when a world of calamity and overwhelming anguish and distress engulfs me like a cyclone, I call out to God, my Father, to hold me tight through the storm.
